IF you’re looking for that old-fashioned community neighbourhood feel, you can’t go past living in Noosa Springs. The only 24-hour manned and gated community on the Sunshine Coast, Noosa Springs has a level of security second to none. “These days when you want to travel, or you need to go away for a couple of months, you can literally lock up and leave,” he said. “The security here is fantastic, and is almost like a concierge service – if you have something couriered to your house, or you have bulky postal items sent, they will pick it up and look after it for you until you get back.” The sense of community was a prime reason Dick Fraser and his wife Robyn moved to Noosa Springs five years ago. “The principal reason for me and my wife, apart from the resort living and excellent security, is the friendliness of the people here,” he said. “The security around the estate all the time, and in the gate house, is fantastic – the most courteous and helpful people we’ve ever come across in a gated community. Not only is it a peaceful, friendly place to live, but it’s also a very smart investment. “The median price in 2000 for land sales and detached homes was $625,000, and in 2008 it had gone up to just over $1.2 million, a substantial jump in eight years,” he said.
